COS - Cabin Space Concept

The mission statement of COS is a newly defined space in the economy class of long-haul aircrafts. Through new forms of movement and rest, as well as the individualization of the booked spaces, a holistic well-being during long flights is generated. Pleasant changes in position prevent blood congestion and the congestion of the buttocks and thighs by hours of sitting unchanged. COS, designed for the Airbus A380, is a living seat-system freely adjustable, adaptable to the widest range of needs and dimensions of the people.

The entertainment and user interface of COS takes place on the complete backplate-shell of the front row. This unbounded interactive screens can be used together as a complete surface or only to entertain individually. By the projection of the sky surrounding, the passenger gets the experience of flying. The active interior trim supports this experience with light-imitations.

NEW DISCOVERED SPACE

COS offers families and couples to create a dedicated space during the flight. Separators and sight-sails create a microclimate and privacy, furthermore closer contact with family members or partners. Individuals can determine the desired level of personal space itself. The dual armrests and side support form a continuous bank if recessed. When active, they separate the rows into single spaces. New, leaner upholstery materials save weight and create more space for the people.

In essence COS is a seat-system, but includes the complete transformation of the cabin interior. Thus, the individual space is illustrated by material indexing on the ground and in the footwell. Due to the weight saving intervention in the aircraft skin, it is possible to install larger, thereby heavier windows. This opens up new qualities of traveling in the air.
